SELLING

STAMP DUTY LAND TAX

Stamp Duty: basic rates on freehold residential purchases only are: 1% of the whole (not just the excess) purchase price for properties  £125,001-£250,000: 3% of whole purchase price for properties  £250,001-500,000: 4% of the whole price for properties over £500,000.

LAND REGISTRY FEES

Land Registry basic fees on purchases only are (at 01/04/2004) based upon a scale depending on the price being paid e.g.  £0-50,000 are  £40:  £50,001 to  £80,000 are  £60:  £80,001 to  £100,000 are  £100:  £100,001 to  £200,000 are  £150:  £200,001 to  £500,000 are  £220: £500,001 to  £1,000,000 are  £420 etc
